JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction of the Parks Superintendent, performs landscape maintenance, grounds maintenance, and arborist duties of parks, city facilities, and green spaces.  Cares for, maintains, and assures the health of the City’s trees in accordance with ANSI Z133, ANSI A300, and ISA best management practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry or a related field or an equivalent combination of related education or experience in arboriculture, urban forestry, and park maintenance. 

Considerable knowledge of urban forestry work including: tree diseases, pests, and treatments, ability to use climbing equipment, and ropes and rigging techniques commonly used in tree pruning and removal operations. 

The ability to operate medium to heavy equipment used in parks and urban forestry maintenance including: aerial lift truck, brush chipper, stump grinder, skid loader, backhoe, front-end loader, tank sprayer, tractors, mowers, snow plows, salting equipment, and landscape maintenance equipment.

Valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License*.  Valid Ohio Pesticide Commercial Applicator License preferred*; ISA Certified Arborist Certification preferred*.  Completion of ODNR Tree Commission Academy within 3 years of appointment.

*Required to be obtained within one (1) year of appointment.
